Recreating the original fur traders’ supper club in Montreal, the Beaver Club Gala is an authentic dining experience with fine food and period music, held amongst the canoes in the Museum’s galleries. Proceeds benefit the education and public programs of The Canadian Canoe Museum.

The Canadian Canoe Museum is delighted to welcome Adam van Koeverden, one of Canada’s most celebrated athletes, as guest host of the 2018 Beaver Club Gala.  Throughout his career, Adam has been a friend of the museum, donating two of his winning kayaks to the collection, but he has also stepped away from his training schedule to participate in museum events from time to time.  And this October, decked out in fur trade finery, Adam will be joining us to propose the classic toasts and to regale us with an after-dinner story in the fine traditions of the Beaver Club of yore.

Adam is a three-time Olympian winning gold in the K-500 and silver in the K-1 1000 in Athens in 2004, silver in the K-1 500 in Beijing in 2008, and silver again in the K-1 1000 in London in 2012; and two-time World Champion in K-1 500 in 2007 and K-1 1000 in 2011.  Since retiring from competition, Adam has given both time and money to Right to Play, WaterAid, Bell’s Let’s Talk Program, the David Suzuki Foundation as well as being National Spokesperson for Colon Cancer Canada.  For more check out
