Learn the Basics of Pyrography

June 9, 2018 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

$130
Man holding pyrography owl project

Learn the art of wood-burning in this fun and engaging workshop! The day will begin with a discussion of safety, materials, and how to use the wood-burning tool. Next, participants will practice using the different tips by making a small sampler.

Once comfortable with the techniques students will select and complete a larger project from designs recommended by the instructor, Cara Jordan.*

No experience is necessary!

*Cara Jordan has no formal training, but has been creating and selling art for more than ten years. When she was a little girl, she was always inspired by a visit to her grandfather’s workshop, a little red barn in the country. He was a folk artist, and he worked in wood to create animal sculptures and images of life in rural Canada. She became interested in pyrography because she feels wood is the perfect canvas for images inspired by the diversity and grandeur of nature and wildlife from Canada and around the world. She uses her own photographs of animals as inspiration for pieces that speak to the beauty, majesty, humanity, and souls of all creatures, great and small, that enrich and sustain our world.
