You are a bit of DIY’er and you like the idea of small boats, boat building, canoe building and maybe kayak building but you aren’t sure where to begin? You like looking at different kinds of boats and seeing how they are made, how they fit together and what tools are needed to make it all work. You are keen to learn directly from the actual woodworkers, builders and artisans? Maybe you aren’t ready to build something yourself yet but you want to know more about the different companies, meet them, talk to them and find out more about the options available to you. You might already have a boat you are proud of and are looking to connect with other people who have a boat like yours or maybe you are keen to make a paddle for your canoe or kayak? The place for you on Saturday June 22nd is the Small Craft Rendezvous at The Canadian Canoe Museum! Now let me guess, the other side of you likes a good meal, some great television and hanging out with some inspiring people. Television? How does your TV fit into this? The actor who plays Ron Swanson on your favourite TV show, NBC’s Parks and Recreation, Nick Offerman, is sort of like you and is coming to this event as both, an attendee to learn and explore but also to play host at a special sold out dinner for Ted Moores’ at Bear Mountain Boats and also to host a Q&A wine and cheese in the afternoon (hey, there are a few tickets left for this Q&A, so buy them HERE NOW or they will be gone-do not procrastinate!)
Knowing you are this great person I just spoke of above, but you find yourself with kids (hey, where did these kids come from anyway?) and you want to do something with them on your precious Saturday. Obviously, indulging your needs to hang out at the Rendezvous are important but the kids are way more vocal about their needs and usually win when it comes to planning the day’s adventures, right? So why not bring them with you? We have planned a number of kids’ activities to satiate their hunger for cool stuff and they will love all of the neat boats and hands-on areas. And there will be ICE CREAM! Yup, there will be $1 ice cream cones and it’s good ice cream too-Kawartha Dairy all the way! And if you choose to use that as your lure for the day, that’s entirely up to you and your parenting ethics! Don’t forget to bring a few bucks for the lunch-time BBQ being run by the East Peterborough Lions Club. It’s so nice to have one less meal to think about preparing at home, especially on such a lovely sunny day!
I can’t believe I almost forgot to mention this: the Rendezvous is our treat to you to celebrate National Canoe Day and admission is FREE!
