Green Gift Ideas

Have you started thinking about your Holiday shopping yet?  If you’re like me you have people on your list who are EASY to buy for, and if you’re like me they’re the people you buy for first.  Then (again, if you’re like me) you get the mid-December panic when you realize the only people you have left on your list are the HARDEST people to buy for.

So I’ve come up with four gift ideas that are not only perfect for that hard-to-buy-for person, but they’re also GREEN!

ONE

rosetteThe first gift idea is buy your loved-one a place in one of our fabulous workshops.  If you haven’t seen our 2014 line-up of workshops check it out, there really is something for everyone and they make a unique gift.  From Paddle Carving to Beaded Rosettes and Finger Weaving to Snowshoes you could buy a workshop for everyone on your list!  Click here for the full line-up.

TWO

small version of Photo IMG_0441The second green gift idea for that hard-to-buy-for person is to Adopt a Canoe in their honour.  For just a monthly fee of $15, (or yearly fee if you prefer to pay all at once) you get a certificate featuring the canoe you’ve adopted and all the benefits of membership to give to the person you’re buying for!  Click here for more info.

THREE

IMG_4236Speaking of membership – giving the gift of a membership to the Canoe Museum is a great way to check someone off your list.  You can buy either an individual, or family membership which will give the person receiving the gift unlimited admission to the Museum for a year, member pricing both in the Gift Store and Online, member prices on our workshops, children’s birthday parties and summer camps.  They’ll be offered free digital subscriptions to four of the canoeing world’s most popular magazines and invites to amazing member’s-only events.  Click here for more information, or email [email protected] with questions.

FOUR

IMG_4786The fourth idea is to make a donation to the Canoe Museum in the name of the person you’re gifting.  In doing so you will be giving the gift of supporting a unique national heritage centre that explores the canoe’s enduring significance to the peoples of Canada, through an exceptional collection of canoes, kayaks and paddled watercraft. You’ll be supporting our engaging, family-friendly Museum with more than 100 canoes and kayaks on display. AND you’ll be helping us create interactive, hands-on galleries, and inclusive, memorable and engaging exhibits and programs. Plus, we can send your special someone a card to let them know you’ve made a donation in their honour.  Doesn’t that just sound like the best gift you’ve ever given?
