The official torch relay for the TORONTO 2015 Pan Am Games came through Peterborough yesterday and the Canadian Canoe Museum played an important role!  Two 26′ voyageur canoes paddled Ron Whetung the torch bearer down the Trent Severn Waterway canal and over the Peterborough Lift Lock, the highest hydraulic lift lock in the world!

The two voyageur canoes were generously loaned by Glenn Fallis & Jerry VanZeyl of Voyageur Canoe and Jim & Katie Stewart. 

The team of paddlers in the torch canoe: Glenn Fallis (stern), Barry Diceman, Russ Parker, Ron Whetung (torch bearer), Anne Marshall, Katie Stewart, Brogan Dow, Jen Burnard (bow).

The team of paddlers in the 2nd canoe are: Jim Stewart (stern), Jerry VanZeyl, Peter Elmhirst, Kristian Paschalis, Nick Paschalis, Richard Tucker, Evan Holt, Carolyn Hyslop (bow).
