Mapmaker: Philip Turnor in Rupert’s Land in the Age of Enlightenment By Barbara Mitchell
The inaugural biography of Hudson’s Bay Company surveyor Philip Turnor, Mapmaker brings to life the man who taught David Thompson and Peter Fidler how to survey. For fourteen years, Turnor and his Cree guides travelled 15,000 miles through Rupert’s Land and produced maps that became the foundation of all northern geographic knowledge.
