Weave a Pair of Snowshoes

October 20, 2018 @ 8:00 am - October 21, 2018 @ 5:00 pm

$320
Hands weaving a snowshoe

Create your very own pair of hand-woven snowshoes in this popular two day workshop.

This workshop begins with a large selection of the best frames on the market (high quality white ash) and incredibly durable and functional 400 pound test fishing line (monoline) from Vancouver Island. The monoline is lighter, stronger and more abrasion-resistant than traditional rawhide. Plus, it doesn’t require varnish or annual maintenance and it is much less likely to stick to wet snow.

Lure of the North has developed a comprehensive snowshoe selection guide to help you choose the best snowshoe style and size based on your terrain preferences. Spaces are limited, so don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to learn all about winter travel from our expert instructors.

Your instructors for this course are Kielyn and Dave Marrone, husband and wife team and owners of the Sudbury-based company Lure of the North. Together, they’ve built a life and a career that is driven by their passion for traditional winter travel, crafts and northern culture. These guys have each travelled over 1,000 km by snowshoe. After rigorous testing in various weather conditions and types of terrain, Kielyn and Dave have settled upon a marriage of traditional snowshoe frames and modern weaving materials. The result is a highly functional snowshoe.
