Our names are Kate and Maddy and our parents work at The Canadian Canoe Museum. Today was Take Your Kids To Work Day so we got to go along with them!
In the morning, we had the incredible opportunity to participate in the Skype-a-Thon which is a worldwide program run by Microsoft which allows the museum to give virtual tours to students around the world.
Next, we spent time carving soap stone sculptures with students who came to the museum on a field trip. It was very interesting to see how the program leaders interacted with the students, keeping them engaged while teaching them important new skills.
In the afternoon, we got to work closely with the artifacts, dusting canoes.
Lastly, we headed to the gift shop!!! We worked with volunteers to answer the phone, welcome guests to the museum and price the merchandise.
Overall, we had a fantastic day exploring the museum. We saw beautiful artifacts, and learned wonderful stories to go along with them.
