Moving the Collection:
Behind-the-Scenes with Curator Jeremy Ward
Thursday, November 25th at 7 PM EST
What does it take to move a collection of over 600 canoes and kayaks? Join The Canadian Canoe Museum’s Curator, Jeremy Ward, for a look at the unique challenges and surprises of moving a collection of this size (and the stories these watercraft carry) to their new home at the water’s edge.
Learn about the meticulous documentation and preparation each object requires and about the research and relationship-building process that supports their understanding and continued stewardship. There is more to moving a collection than you may expect – hear about the technical challenges and the surprising discoveries the curatorial team has made along the way!
This virtual tour offers a unique perspective on many little-seen artifacts in the Museum’s Collection Centre, with plenty of opportunities to ask questions.
