Every June 26th, The Canadian Canoe Museums celebrates our favourite holiday of the year – National Canoe Day! 🎉
What is National Canoe Day?
June 26th was coined National Canoe Day by The Canadian Canoe Museum following a CBC campaign that, in 2007, declared the canoe one of the Seven Wonders of Canada. Ever since, and in many ways – from proclamations to paddling parties – Canadians have connected and shared their affinity for canoes. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, National Canoe Day has also been celebrated virtually.
Celebrating our #PaddlingPals
This year’s theme for #NCD2023 is celebrating our #PaddlingPals!
What is #PaddlingPals all about? It’s a way for us to come together as a community, sharing our love for paddling through captivating images and inspiring stories. Whether you’re a seasoned paddler or just starting your canoeing adventure, we want you to be a part of this incredible celebration!
While nothing beats the serenity of a solo paddle adventure, going out for a paddle or on a trip with others is an opportunity to create cherished memories, forge lifelong friendships, and deepen bonds. Your #PaddlingPals may have been made at camp or on a trip, or they may be your children, partner, or friend – or even your furry loved ones. If you ask us, there is nothing better than sharing an adventure with someone whose enthusiasm for the experience matches your own!
Feel free to celebrate any pal you wish for #NCD2023. All pals are welcome!
Join us as we embark on a virtual journey celebrating the beauty of canoeing and the incredible connections formed on the water.
Here’s how you can participate:
1️⃣ Capture the Moment: Head out onto the water, grab your paddle and PFD, and capture those awe-inspiring moments with your pals. Whether your photo or video illustrates fun with friends, family, or furry loved ones on a serene lake, a rushing river, or in front of a stunning sunset, we want to see it all! You can also hunt through your camera roll to find a great photo from the past to share and reminisce over.
2️⃣ Share Your Photos & Stories: Canoeing is more than just an activity; it’s a way to connect with nature and build lifelong friendships. Share your most memorable paddling stories, tales of camaraderie, and moments that have touched your heart. Let’s inspire others to embark on their own paddling adventures! Tag @cndncanoemuseum on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, and use the hashtags #NCD2023 and #PaddlingPals.
3️⃣ Spread the Joy: Invite your paddling pals, friends, and family to join the celebration. Encourage them to share their own #PaddlingPals moments and help us create a wave of enthusiasm for National Canoe Day.
But wait, there’s more! By participating in #NCD2023, you’ll not only be part of a vibrant community, but you’ll also have a chance to be featured on our official social media accounts. Imagine your photo or story inspiring fellow paddlers from all corners of the globe!
Join us on National Canoe Day as we paddle our way to new adventures and celebrate the spirit of the paddling community! 🛶
