Annual Events

We are always thrilled to see returning faces and excited to make new friends at The Canadian Canoe Museum’s annual events. These gatherings bring together individuals who share a common passion for paddling, history, and creativity.

We are honoured that attendees from far and wide plan their visits around these events. Celebrating with our community is the highlight of our year! Join us in creating unforgettable memories and forging lasting connections.

Members of The Canadian Canoe Museum raise their hands to vote during an Annual General Meeting.

Annual General Meeting

The Canadian Canoe Museums Board of Directors and staff lead the Museum’s Annual General Meetings. The meeting invites members, volunteers, stakeholders, and the general public to reflect on the previous year and discuss plans for the year ahead.

National Canoe Day (June 26)

Each year on June 26th, we celebrate National Canoe Day, our favourite holiday! Since this holiday was invented (by us) in 2007, Canadians have come together to share their love for canoes through various activities such as proclamations and parties.

Jack Matthews Fellowship

The Jack Matthews Fellowship annually selects a fellow who reflects the values of The Canadian Canoe Museum, Trent University’s International Program, Lakefield College School, and Jack Matthews’ vision of Canadian global citizenship.

Campfires & Cocktails

Campfires and Cocktails is an annual fundraiser for The Canadian Canoe Museum and is all about celebrating “campfire culture”! Attendees connect over classic campfire cuisine, cocktails, and live music, all from local restaurants and musicians.

Mark your calendars for the next Campfires and Cocktails!

The Canadian Canoe Museum respectfully acknowledges that we are situated on the Treaty 20 Michi Saagiig territory and the traditional territory covered by the Williams Treaties First Nations. The Canadian Canoe Museum also recognizes the contributions of Indigenous Peoples including First Nations, Inuit and Métis, in shaping this community and country as a whole.

As an organization that stewards the world’s largest and most significant collection of canoes, kayaks & paddled watercraft, we will honour and share the cultural histories and stories within the collection in all that we do.
