Share your #CanoeView to celebrate National Canoe Day virtually on June 26, 2021

On the Water & Land

For the second year, National Canoe Day celebrations (June 26, 2021) have gone virtual! With people taking to the water in record numbers in response to the pandemic, we hope to top last year’s numbers, which saw upwards of 35,000 people reached through our #CanoeHug campaign – and that’s just on The Canadian Canoe Museum’s channels!

As we enter our second pandemic summer, and after more than a year cooped up at home, we are all experiencing wanderlust. Unfortunately, travel and tourism have been one of the hardest-hit industries (here at The Canadian Canoe Museum, we experienced an 87% decrease in visitors in 2020!), and the industry needs our support to make a strong recovery. This is why we are asking you to share a #CanoeView on Saturday, June 26th, 2021, for National Canoe Day – in the hopes that we can inspire Canadians’ next canoe trip.

How to Participate

📸  Share a photo or video (current or an old favourite) of the view from your canoe, letting us know where to find that awesome #CanoeView! Celebrate being on the water, your paddling companions, or simply the beautiful landscape.

Post your photo or video on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram with the hashtag #CanoeView and tag us @cndncanoemuseum. We’ll be kicking off the National Canoe Day celebrations with some of our team’s own #CanoeViews and sharing your photos throughout the day!

The Canadian Canoe Museum respectfully acknowledges that we are situated on the Treaty 20 Michi Saagiig territory and the traditional territory covered by the Williams Treaties First Nations. The Canadian Canoe Museum also recognizes the contributions of Indigenous Peoples including First Nations, Inuit and Métis, in shaping this community and country as a whole.

As an organization that stewards the world’s largest and most significant collection of canoes, kayaks & paddled watercraft, we will honour and share the cultural histories and stories within the collection in all that we do.
